The first Featured Fit Dad of 2018 is Millionaire Hoy. Yes, that is his name. It's a cool backstory, but you're going to have to listen to the Fit Dad Fitness Podcast interview with him (launches Jan. 10) to hear how he got his name.

Anyway, Millionaire is a father of 5 and a fitness-focused YouTube creator focused on democratizing fitness. Millionaire grew up on the south side of Chicago, and his through his upbringing, he's made it his mantra that fitness and a healthy lifestyle shouldn’t be available only to the wealthy but to everyone, and it’s his mission to bring health to the masses.

Millionaire started out as a graphic designer, but the stress and demand of the job landed him in the hospital. Inspired to not only improve his life but also inspire others, he took a massive risk and quit his job to dedicate his career to creating YouTube fitness content that anyone could do anywhere. He now has over 17 million views and 225,000 subscribers on his channel.

Here is Millionaire's story:

When did you first get into fitness?

I first got involved in fitness around the age of 25 — after spending several days in the hospital due to a fitness scare. Laying in a hospital bed for 3+ days gave me plenty of time to reevaluate my health choices, and after leaving the hospital I decided to turn my health around for the better — and for my family.

What activities do you do to keep fit and active?

I love to do HIIT workouts, strength training, calisthenics, and yoga. When I'm not sweating in my home gym, I enjoy walking, playing with my children (who are all pretty active in their own right) and I like to bike and swim when I get the chance.

What is your favorite fitness memory or achievement?

Wow! There are so many awesome fitness memories to choose from — from shooting my first workout YouTube video, doing yoga with my entire family, or reading success stories from people who have been doing my workouts. But my personal favorite fitness memory was completing my very first fitness boot-camp. Connecting with other people in the real-world and working out side by side with them was awesome, and it was this moment that let me know that I wanted to commit my life's work to helping others get in the best shape of their lives.

What is your favorite workout?

I'm sort of a workout junkie, so this is another tough question. Practically speaking, I enjoy doing a long deep stretch yoga session at the end of each day, but if I were to choose from one of the 800+ workouts that we've created, I'd have to say that our 60 Minute 500 Burpees Challenge YouTube workout was my favorite — simply because I've never pushed so hard in my life lol.

In what ways do you hope to influence your children through fitness?

I got into fitness to be a better example for my family and to live a long and healthy life with them. My parents were health nuts and while I sort of always rebelled against that growing up, having them as my foundation was invaluable for when I finally decided to turn my life around. I hope to be the same type of example for my children — not pushy or judgmental, but to create a home environment where health and fitness is the norm, and not a chore or inconvenience.

What words of encouragement would you have for other dads out there who want to be healthy and fit?

The great thing about being "Dad" is that our families tend to revere us for our strength and guidance. My advice to fathers who are trying to ditch "dad bod" is to use your family as motivation and incorporate your family into your healthy lifestyle where it makes sense. It's great having a support system that already feels that we are strong and also accepts us for who we are — so use that motivation as a boost to jump start your fitness journey.
